Writers Contest. Lincoln Financial has supported NHPTV's educational outreach services for more than a decade.

The Ready To Learn program brings educational services, resources and free books to families, early education professionals, local libraries, and other community organizations around the Granite State. The program encourages parents to read aloud to their children, organizes parenting and literacy workshops and helps families use television more critically and wisely. www.nhptv.org/kn

The NHPTV- PBS KIDS! GO Writers Contest encourages children in grades K-3 to explore the power of creativity by writing and illustrating their own stories, and promotes reading skills through hands-on, active learning. In NHPTV's 19 years of hosting the contest, over 10,000 children have participated, and a number of them have become national contest winners, including this year. www.nhptv.org/kidswrite.

"We're thankful to the Lincoln Financial Foundation for its generous support of the Ready To Learn program," remarked Peter A. Frid, NHPTV President and CEO. "This program reaches all over New Hampshire and ensures the advancement of our children's literacy skills through developing a love for reading and writing."

NHPTV WINS 2 NATIONAL TELLY AWARDS FOR BIRD TALES & TIGER TAKES ON BULLYING

NHPTV WINS 2 NATIONAL TELLY AWARDS FOR BIRD TALES & TIGER TAKES ON BULLYING
(DURHAM, August 5, 2013) - Two of New Hampshire Public Television's original productions have won national bronze Telly Awards for excellence. More than 12,000 entries from all 50 states were submitted to the 34th Annual Telly Awards; entries do not compete against one another, but are judged on their own merit by industry professionals.

BIRD TALES, a WINDOWS TO THE WILD special, received a bronze Telly award in the nature/wildlife category. In the program, host Willem Lange meets people who, in unique and various ways, share a love for birds. It's the third in a series of award-winning migratory bird specials produced by NHPTV that explore and celebrate New England's native species. [Host Willem Lange, producer/editor Phil Vaughn, videographer Steve Giordani] nhptv.org/birdtales

TIGER TAKES ON BULLYING also won a bronze award in the children's programming category. TIGER TAKES ON BULLYING is a lively, music-filled program that helps elementary school kids learn how to deal with bullying in school, online and socially. By using children's own words, TIGER TAKES ON BULLYING depicts their real experiences with bullying and intolerance. TIGER TAKES ON BULLYING is a co-production with Plymouth State University's TIGER theatre company [Carla Gordon Russell, NHPTV producer; Patricia Lindberg, PSU producer]. nhptv.org/tiger
