The Arts | Ning Liang, Mezzo-Soprano

Ning Liang plays the mother, Lu-Ling, in The Bonesetter's Daughter. She grew up in China and lives there now, but was classically trained at the Julliard School in New York. She has performed at the Metropolitan Opera and in opera houses throughout Europe. In this clip, she muses on Chinese and Western opera, and the role these forms play in her everyday life.

The Arts | Han Feng, Costume Designer of The Bonesetter's Daughter

Han Feng grew up during the Cultural Revolution in China, and moved to New York in the 1980's where her career as a fashion designer took off. After designing the costumes for director Anthony Minghella's production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, she was approached by Amy Tan, producer Sarina Tang and director Chen Shi-Zheng to design the costumes for The Bonesetter's Daughter.
